Course Name French Level VIII Date 29 September-17 December 2015 Aim The aim of the course is to enhance participants’ profciency and to enable them to be independent users of the language and expand their knowledge of the French culture. Rationale The knowledge of foreign languages has always been an asset and especially for anyone involved in international relations. With the fast pace of globalisation, this knowledge has become vital in all areas; to expand business, to further one’s studies, to represent the country abroad, to beneft from travel experiences and to understand other cultures and even for personal development. It is the most important tool for effective communication and understanding between communities. Therefore, it is natural and essential to make this knowledge available to offcers at all levels. Target Group The programme is opened to all Malaysian government offcers. Learning Objectives By the end of this course, participants should be able: U To make hypothesis; U To defne a problem and offer solutions; 86 U To describe a past situation or event; and U To express restriction. Course Methodology Participants will learn through classroom activities and interactions using audiovisual materials, practice sessions in the language laboratory and independent research in the media and on the internet. They will also be encouraged to participate in the social and cultural activities of the French speaking community in Malaysia.
