Course Name Building Blocks of Good English Date 13-17 April 2015 Aim The aim of the course is to provide a basis for understanding the linguistic structure and the sociolinguistic uses of the English language. Rationale A good command of the language is essential to play one’s roles effectively in the professional and social domains. Fluency, accuracy and the ability to use a wide range of vocabulary are essential elements of good communication. It is therefore of utmost importance to enhance the profciency level of the participants both in speaking and writing. The fve-day course will touch on some aspects of grammar and the language skills necessary to be a competent user. Target Group This course is opened to all Malaysian government offcers. Learning Outcomes By the end of this course, participants should be able: U To demonstrate the use of the language in a variety of contexts; and U To build their confdence as comfortable users of the language. Course Methodology 50 Participants will be involved in activities which will raise their awareness of correct use of the language. An interactive and integrated approach will be adopted.
