Centre for Leadership, Negotiation and Public Diplomacy (LNPD)

The Centre for Leadership, Negotiation, and Public Diplomacy (LNPD) at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) remains a cornerstone for providing crucial training in leadership, negotiation, public diplomacy and media skills. Over the years, LNPD has continuously refined its programmes to align with the evolving needs of Malaysian diplomats and government officials, ensuring they are equipped to navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected global landscape.

In addition to specialised workshops and courses on leadership, negotiation, public diplomacy and media skills, LNPD plays a pivotal role in preparing Malaysian government officials for their assignments abroad. A flagship component of this preparation is the SPKM: Pre-Posting Orientation Course for Home-Based Staff and Spouses—a mandatory, comprehensive programme aimed at equipping officers from various ministries and agencies for their diplomatic postings worldwide. The course is conducted multiple times each year and is attended by officers from key ministries and agencies across Malaysia.

In fulfilling its mandate, LNPD remains focused on innovating and expanding its training portfolio to stay aligned with current global trends in leadership, negotiations, public diplomacy and media skills. The Centre is dedicated to enhancing the capabilities of Malaysian diplomats and government officials, ensuring they are well-prepared to advance and safeguard Malaysia's interests on the international stage.
