Two officers from the Academic Studies, Research and Publication Division – Puan Alina Murni Md. Isa and Puan Noraini Awang Nong – enrolled for a Diploma Penterjemahan Profesional - Modul Komunikasi Umum (Diploma in Translation - General Communication Module) organised by the Malaysian Translators Association in collaboration with Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) in October 2011. Recently, the officers received news that they had passed the course with Distinction.
Classes were held every Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 pm, for a duration of six months. Each week, a different topic was covered which included among others, semantics, syntax and the translation process. Coursework contributed to 60% of the final marks, besides 40% for the final exam. The facilitators were experienced translators themselves and were always very encouraging and willing to answer enquiries through emails and hand phones.
The two officers are looking forward to attend their graduation ceremony with 21 other course mates, to be organised soon by the Malaysian Translators Association.
