The Centre for Leadership, Negotiation and Public Diplomacy (LNPD) has conducted the Public Diplomacy Course for Junior Officers from 25 to 27 June 2024. It was attended by 26 officers from 15 ministries and agencies – Prime Minister’s Department, Parliament of Malaysia, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of National Unity, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Ministry of Housing and Local Government, Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities; and Pejabat Pengarah Tanah dan Galian Pulau Pinang.
The three-days course featured lectures on Malaysia’s Public Diplomacy and knowledge sharing on press release and statements. The participants undergone hands-on training in the best practices in using the new media to promote and educate the masses on public policies. The best practices on how to handle media and countering disinformation, issues on hate speech and on a case study on the failure of Public Diplomacy has also been discussed in the course. The participants had the opportunity to learn from well-experienced officers from Wisma Putra, the IDFR expert researcher, prominent former officers in the public diplomacy field and public university lecturers.
Overall, the participants gave positive feedback and were satisfied with the flow of the course and the course content. During the closing ceremony, the Director of the LNPD, YBhg. Dato’ Agus Salim Yusof highlighted the importance of integrating public diplomacy knowledge and skills into their daily working routine. He also congratulated the participants for their dedication. He conveyed his deepest gratitude to the speakers for sharing their invaluable knowledge and experience with the attendees.
