The Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) hosted a visit by H.E Hiba Mahmoud Sadiq Fareed, State Minister of Human Resources Development of Sudan to the Institute on 11 May 2012. She was heading a four member delegation and accompanied by H.E Nadir Yousif Eltayeb, the Ambassador of Sudan to Malaysia.
The meeting with the visiting delegation was chaired by YBhg. Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari, Director General of IDFR. It was attended by the senior officers of IDFR and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia. The visit programme included a briefing on the activities of the Institute and on the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP).
While briefing on the MTCP, Ms. Nur Ashikin Mohd. Taib, the Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Strategy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia noted that a total of 867 officials from Sudan have participated in various short courses under MTCP since 1983.
During the meeting, H.E Hiba Mahmoud Sadiq Fareed stated her country’s desire to forge closer cooperation in the area of training with training institutes involved in MTCP. She expressed her country’s intention to “reactivate” its participation in MTCP and to strengthen two-way cooperation with Malaysia in the area of training. In this regard, the visiting dignitary invited Malaysia to send participants to attend its training programmes in areas where Sudan has expertise such as micro finance and Arabic.
