Course Name Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP): Strategic Analysis for International Participants 2015 Date 10-28 August 2015 Aim The course aims to enhance participants’ knowledge on strategic thinking and security analysis in today’s world as well as to expose the participants to the changing political, security and strategic global environment. Rationale Strategic analysis is an important tool for ensuring long-term success, be it in the economic, political, social or diplomatic felds. The study of strategy and strategic management has always been important. Throughout history, states, organisations and individuals have given serious attention to this study in order to assist them to analyse preventable conficts. Fundamentally, strategy is a process. It allows constant adaptation to shifting conditions and circumstances in a world where “might” continues to dominate. In the face of uncertainty, therefore, states require a holistic approach. Political objectives, military strength, economic resources and management of human resources play their role. Applying critical thinking and creative approaches to determining policy goals will assist the process of achieving the strategic goals of the state. Policymakers must therefore be equipped with those applications, techniques and methods. Target Group Mid-career diplomats and government offcers whose job description includes 25 strategic planning and policy making in the feld of international relations, security and diplomacy. Learning Outcomes By the end of this course, participants should be able: U To enhance their knowledge on strategic thinking and security analysis; U To upgrade their understanding, skills, and ability to apply strategic thinking and security analysis; U To develop scenarios for the purpose of strategic thinking and management; and U To exchange ideas, views and experiences related to crisis management. 2015 Prospectus
