YBhg. Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari, Director General of IDFR, attended the First International Seminar On Malaysian-Thai Studies (ISMATS 2012) on the invitation of the organizer, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) in Sintok, Kedah. The two day event which took place from 7-8 May 2012 saw the participation of about 120 students, keen individuals and academicians from Universiti Utara Malaysia and four Thai Universities.
The seminar was divided into 15 panel discussions ranging from numerous key issues in relation to Malaysia-Thai bilateral affairs including Identity Politics, Education, Tourism, Arts and Culture. The seminar also featured 3 Key Speakers; YBhg. Dato’ Wira Dr. Affifudin Haji Omar (Chairman Uniutama Management Holdings Sdn. Bhd.), Prof. Keiko Kuroda (Faculty of Law, Economics & Human Science, Kogoshima University, Japan) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siripon Wajjwalku (Faculty of Political Science, Thammasat University, Thailand).
YBhg. Dato’ also paid a courtesy call on Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, Vice Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia.
