The Centre for Leadership, Negotiation and Public Diplomacy (LNPD) successfully conducted the Public Diplomacy Workshop for Junior Level Officers from 23 to 25 May 2023. It was attended by 22 government officials of Grades 41 - 44 from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Tourism Malaysia, Department of Chemistry Malaysia, Majlis Amanah Rakyat, Prime Minister’s Department, National Art Gallery, Istana Budaya, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, Attorney General's Chambers, and Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation.
This workshop aimed to increase awareness among government officials about the importance of public diplomacy in promoting and protecting Malaysia’s interests. It also provided the participants with public diplomacy strategies through media management skills to deal with any misinformation and disinformation. The three-day workshop featured interactive lecture sessions that provided participants with exclusive and crucial knowledge. The participants also underwent training to enhance their communication skills by using tools and tactics in handling the public through both traditional and new media, such as Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok. They were also taught to prepare press releases and statements.
The participants had exciting activities conducted by the experts. The Public Diplomacy Workshop for Junior Level Officers really gave the participants a fresh perspective on the importance of media and public diplomacy and to use them most effectively to disseminate government policies.
