negotiation2024 main

The Centre for Leadership, Negotiation and Public Diplomacy (LNPD) successfully organised the Negotiation Course for Junior Officers from 5 to 7 March 2024. Twenty-three participants of Grades 41 to 48 from nine ministries and agencies of the Malaysian government attended the course. This three-day course was designed to strengthen the government officials’ negotiation skills when representing their organisations in negotiations at the international level. It also aimed to enhance participants' understanding of the principal rules of negotiations in any environment and provide them with the tools and tactics needed to be successful negotiators.
Throughout the course, experts taught the fundamentals of negotiation that will help the participants build on their core competencies in those areas. Negotiation simulations were also conducted to enable the participants to experience the real-life situation of the negotiation process between countries. The Centre also invited a guest speaker to share her experiences as a real negotiation practitioner, namely Datuk Hiswani Harun. She elaborated on the aspects of bilateral and multilateral negotiations as well as shared her experiences and the challenges faced during the negotiation process.
In his closing remarks, Dato’ Agus Salim Yusof, Director of LNPD, expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to the speakers for delivering and sharing their views and invaluable experiences with the participants. He also expressed his hope that the participants will practise the negotiation knowledge that has been taught in this course not only in their respective workplaces but also in their daily lives.
