The Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), in collaboration with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), organized a lecture session entitled “Capacity Building: Exploring Postgraduate Study Options at Universiti Putra Malaysia for IDFR Staff” ” on July 19, 2024, held at the Treaty Room, IDFR.
This lecture aimed to encourage IDFR staff to enhance their capacity through graduate programs in diplomacy and international relations, as well as other related fields. The lecture was in line with IDFR's mission to improve staff efficiency and professionalism by enhancing knowledge, analytical skills, and other relevant competencies.
Five lecturers from UPM, led by Associate Professor Dr Zainal Madon, Deputy Dean (Graduate Studies and Industry & Community Network), were invited to share the opportunities for pursuing Master's and PhD studies at UPM with IDFR staff. During the session, the UPM representatives discussed the types of courses available for Master's and PhD levels, whether on a part-time or full-time basis. They also covered the costs of studies, the course registration process, and the syllabi for each course offered. The session was highly engaging as it raised awareness among participants about the importance of pursuing higher education to build a better future.
The subsequent Q&A session with the participants also went smoothly, with some IDFR staff asking more in-depth questions regarding the course content offered and the suitable career paths based on the type of courses taken.
The program concluded with a photo session featuring the speakers and all the participants, followed by light refreshments.
