IDFR’s Centre for Political Studies and Economic Diplomacy (PSED) had successfully organised the Strategic and Security Analysis Course from 25 to 27 September 2024. The three-day course was held physically at the Ramada Suites By Wyndham KLCC, Kuala Lumpur with a total attendance of 20 participants. The participants comprised of officers grade 41 to 52 from various ministries and agencies, including the Prime Minister’s Department; Ministry of Defence; Ministry of Plantation and Commodities; Department of Social Welfare; Malaysian National Security Council Sabah; Royal Malaysia Police; as well as the State Secretary Offices from Pahang, Kedah, Perlis, Perak and Sarawak.
Among the modules covered under the course were Malaysia’s Foreign Policy and Strategic Interests; Malaysia’s National Defence Policy and Strategy; Strategic and Intelligence Analysis; Strategic Approaches in Cyber Security; Strategic
Communication; and Tools for Strategic Analysis in Decision Making. This programme aims to expose participants with the method of analysing critically while promoting the exchange of views and opinions. It also seeks to enhance the skills needed for government officers to devise innovative approaches in planning policies and strategic goals at organisational, national and international levels.
Throughout the three-day course, the participants have engaged actively in the lectures, group discussions and also simulation activities with the speakers.Participants were provided with an overview of Malaysia’s foreign policy and
strategic interests, national defense policy, and cybersecurity. They were also taught effective strategies for communication and decision-making. To deepen their engagement and comprehension of the course topics, a variety of group discussions and simulation activities were conducted, enabling participants to better understand the realities of conflict management, communication, and decision-making in actual situations.
On the last day, all participants were presented with a certificate of completion from Mr. Harvinder Singh Ramday, Acting Head of Centre of PSED for their successful venture in the Strategic and Security Analysis Course.
