Designed to provide a comprehensive overview of Malaysia’s cultural, political, and diplomatic landscape, the MCI course offers practical insights for newly arrived diplomats and foreign officers. Participants included diplomats who had been stationed in Malaysia for periods ranging from just a few weeks to over a year, representing countries and organisations such as Bangladesh, Iraq, Venezuela, Namibia, the Netherlands, Russia, the Mission of Canada to ASEAN (Jakarta), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the International Labour Organisation (ILO), and the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
The course featured interactive modules covering key topics, including Wisma Putra and Malaysia’s diplomacy, Malaysia’s culture and honorifics, Malaysian politics, working in Malaysia, and the Press and Media landscape. Delivered by experienced speakers, these sessions provided valuable insights into diplomatic life in Malaysia. Participants found the programme both informative and enriching, offering a well-rounded introduction to their diplomatic journey in the country.
The programme concluded with a closing ceremony on 23 January 2025 at the VIP Dining Room, IDFR. In his closing remarks, Dato’ Syed Bakri Syed Abdul Rahman, Director General of IDFR, congratulated the participants and highlighted the importance of gaining a deeper understanding of Malaysia as they embark on their diplomatic assignments.
